Echocardiography

When pets experience heart issues, diagnostic imaging like x-rays and echocardiograms can play a critical role in getting answers and creating the best treatment plan possible.
An echocardiogram is a specialized ultrasound of the heart that allows veterinarians to see the heart in real time. This helps evaluate the heart’s size, shape, function, valve movement, wall thickness, and blood flow.
Through our partnership with a trusted veterinary imaging specialist group, we’re able to provide advanced cardiac imaging and expert evaluation right here for our patients.
Echocardiograms can help detect:
• Heart disease
• Congenital (birth) defects
• Cardiac tumors
• Certain heartworm infections
The procedure is painless, non-invasive, and typically does not require anesthesia. Most pets only need a small patch of fur shaved for the exam.
If your pet has been diagnosed with a heart murmur, irregular heartbeat, coughing, fainting episodes, or breathing changes, give us a call at (281) 351-8387 to discuss whether an echocardiogram may be recommended.
